Obituary for
Jozef Gomboc
Gomboc, Jozef
Passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at St. Mary’s General Hospital at the age of 87.
Beloved husband of the late Anna.
Loving father of Robert (Karen) and the late Joseph (Janet).
Proud Grandpa of Stephen and Katrina (Casper).
Dear uncle to Milan Jerebic (Maryanne) and great-uncle to Mark and Sandra.
Will be missed by his extended family in Slovenia.
Joe (Ata) escaped from the former Jugoslavia (Slovenija) with his wife Anna (Mama) in 1958. He worked various jobs in Ontario from truck driving in Kirkland Lake to tobacco picking in Tillsonburg. Finally he and Mama settled in Kitchener, Ontario. There they raised a family of 2 boys, while he worked full-time and part time. Through hard work and determination he became skilled enough where he built his own house, doing his own framing, roofing, electrical work, and plumbing. He continued his passion for home repair with countless hours of work at his sons’ homes. He was a caring, creative man of many talents.
Jozef’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Church, 11 Traynor Ave., Kitchener, on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, followed by a reception in the church hall.
