Jeffrey’s Obituary
VEINOTTE, Jeffrey Paul ~ Age 51 of Mahone Bay passed away peacefully at home, Friday, March 29, 2019. Born in Lunenburg on July 1, 1967, he was the first child born in Canada in our country’s centennial year. Jeffrey was a dedicated employee of Public Works for the Town of Mahone Bay until ill health forced him into retirement. He was a 32 year member of the Mahone Bay fire department, serving in all the ranks and in particular was Chief for one year. In his younger years, Jeffrey enjoyed playing softball, his team making it to the National Championship in 1993. Jeffrey had a wide circle of friends and he will be remembered for his dedication to the task, but always able to look at the humorous side of life. He will be sadly missed by his son Cameron and daughter Shannon both of Sackville, Halifax Co. and his brother Bruce of Mahone Bay, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeffrey was predeceased by his parents Paul and Olive (Rhuland) Veinotte. His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. John Jenkins of Lunenburg for his professional care and kindness. Cremation has taken place. A public graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay with Father Chad McCharles officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Mahone Bay & District Fire Hall. By request, family flowers only.
