Gwendolyn Violet McKay – 90, Truro, formally of Lower Onslow, passed away peacefully Monday, January 28, 2019 in Wynn Park Villa, Truro. Born in Masstown, she was a daughter of the late Leo John and Winnifred Mae (Smith) Leben.
Gwendolyn enjoyed being a farmer’s wife. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking, knitting and doing puzzles. She was a member of the former Lower Onslow United Church which became part of the Trinity United Church in Upper Onslow. She was also a supporter of the Colchester Stroke Club.
She is survived by daughter, Jean Nordin, Grande Prairie, Alta; her sons, James (Muriel), Lower Onslow, John (Hazel), Lower Onslow, Bryan, Toronto, Ont., Jerry (Cheryl), Amherst; foster sister; Mary LaPierre. Gwendolyn is also survived by eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. McKay and sisters, Audrey, Joan, Shirley and Betty.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, February 1 from 2-4pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Spring Interment in Lower Onslow Clarke Cemetery. If so desired, donations may be made to the Trinity United Church, Upper Onslow or to the Wynn Park Recreation Department.
