Cecil Botkin
April 13, 1925 ~ February 16, 2019
Dad was born in Fillmore, Saskatchewan in 1925. He had two brothers and five sisters. Dad and Mom (Ida) were married for 69 years and had four daughters: Carol (Leslie) Drotos, Darlaine (Arno) Fuhlendorf, Linda (Joe) Drotos, and Karen (Paul) Smith. Nine grandchildren who Grandad loved immensely. They took them on holidays, fishing trips, and spent hours playing cards and just talking about their lives. My kids remember fondly a TV trip they took with them to Alaska. They also have many great grandchildren who were the joy of his life. In their early days they had a dairy farm in Brooks and in 1973 moved to Carbon to grain farm. Then they retired to Drumheller and built and flipped three houses to keep busy and joined the Pioneer Trail Senior’s Centre where they had many friends. In 2011 they moved into the Sunshine Lodge and after Mom died in 2014 Dad went to Hillview and then into Continuing Care. He was well looked after by all the staff and they made his final years pleasant. Thanks to all who did such a great job. There will be no funeral service.
