Stella Kush

Stella passed away peacefully on the morning of October 25, 2018 with family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob); her parents Peter and Mary Zawada; her brother John Zawada and her grandson Nathan Kondratoff. She is survived by daughter Brenda Kondratoff (Allan), sons Bruce (Kim), Murray (Tanys), and Dean (Sandra), and six grandchildren: Nolan (Taunya), Breanne (Brad), Elisha (Logan), Amanda, Nick and Hannah, and three great grandchildren, Isabelle, Jett, and Emily; her siblings Kay, Nettie, Irene (George), Stanley (Janet) and Norman (Leslie). Stella was born near Stornoway, SK. Stella completed her high school education and worked in Canora, SK for a period of time. She met her husband Bob in 1949 and they later married in November of 1951. They settled on their new farm northeast of Hyas where they had their first two children, Brenda and Bruce. They moved to Hyas in 1963 and had two more children, Murray and Dean. Stella and Bob retired from farming in 1978 and began renting out their land. Stella and Bob lived in Hyas for 35 years until health issues forced them to move to Yorkton, Regina and later, Emerald Park, SK. Stella was active in the Hyas community and enjoyed curling, camping, playing cards, slo-pitch, antique collecting, and auction sales. Stella was well known for her gardening skills and many would stop by the house to see how she turned a garden into a summer showcase. Stella knew how to make guests feel welcome in her home and cherished her grandkids and great grandkids. A Celebration of Stella’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2019 from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Stella Kush.
