Michael Lucas
Passed away peacefully at Creek Way Village, Burlington, on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the age of 84. Mike leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years Mary Ann (nee Matejcic), and loving daughters Karen (Ray) Hall and Laura (Terry) Hameliy. Cherished grandfather of Lucas, Zachary, Connor and Kyle. Predeceased by parents Nick Lucas and Mary Palko, along with brothers Joseph (Irene), John (Veronica), Stephen (Marie), and Frank. Brother-in-law of Mary Lucas, loved uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Mike retired as a Sergeant from the Hamilton Police Service after a career spanning 32 years. Due to the effects of a stroke, he spent the last 11 years living at Creekway Village Long Term Care, which he considered his home, where he made many friends over the years, with residents and staff alike. We cannot express enough our sincere love and thanks to all the various doctors, nurses and an outstanding staff who made Mike’s stay a wonderful 11 year journey with people who treated him with the utmost respect, dignity, and love.
As per Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 3 – 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, and for those who wish, donations in memory of Mike to the Willow Foundation at Creek Way Village would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.willowfoundation.ca
