James Jim Molnar January 14th 2019

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather Jim Molnar. Jim passed away peacefully on the morning of January 14th at Rosewood Village in Trail at the age of 90 years. Jim was born in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to Canada at the age of 4 years with his mother Anna and his older brother Bert. They came to join their father Bertalan who preceded them to Canada to work for the railroad in Alberta. Younger brother Mike and sister Violet were born and the family eventually settled and purchased a small farm in Eckville, Alberta.
In 1947, at age 19, Dad came to Trail to visit his brother Bert who was working at Cominco, and he never left. Shortly thereafter he met Mary who quickly became the love of his life and they were married on August 16, 1951. They eventually settled in Warfield where they raised four children. Dad loved their summer home at Christina Lake and was an avid hunter, fisherman, handyman and also enjoyed many sports. Jim retired from Teck/Cominco in 1988 with 40 years’ service and enjoyed the next 26 winters with Mary in sunny Arizona.
Dad is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Rose and his four children; Lorraine Hill (John), Loretta Thorpe, Linda Randall (Todd) and Wayne (Carrol), grandchildren; Catrina, Dianna, Grant, Shelley, Leanne, Kyle, Kelly and Kayla, great-grandchildren; Dylan, Desiree, Noah, Ethan, Austin, Liam and Nolan. He will be missed by his brother Mike (Maureen), sister Violet, sister-in law Lil and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim was predeceased by his brother Bert, sons-in-law Leo Audet and Richard Thorpe, brother-in-law Albert, sister-in-law Sharon, niece Sharon and nephew Donald.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewood for their care over the past two years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 am at “Carberry’s Chapel” at 1298 Pine Avenue, Trail, BC with Gwen Ziprick, Celebrant. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
