Eva Marie Vigen passed away quietly on January 6, 2019 at the age of 84 with Gordon at her side. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon, of 66 years, daughters Geri (Gregg) Knight of Red Deer, Wendy (Bill) Holman of Lacombe, and Linda (Cecil) Yates of Castor, Marie’s sister Shirley Carlson of Oyen, five grandchildren: Tyler Knight of Red Deer and his children: Zackery, Jorden and Landon, Kris (Tyara) Knight of Spruce View and their children Taytum and Keira, David Holman of Edmonton and his children Narra and Will, Lindsay Yates of Three Hills and her children Aiden and Rylan, Chase Yates and his children Callie and Ava, sister in law Joan (Bob) Rossler of Hanna, other family and many dear friends. Marie was predeceased by her parents Eva and John Marlowe, brothers Bill (Millie) Marlowe and Jack Marlowe, sister Betty (Lorne) Wright and brother in law Elmer Carlson.
Marie was born in Hanna June 7, 1934 to John and Eva Marlowe. After attending the local one room schoolhouse, she completed a Commercial School program in Hanna. From there she went to the big city (Edmonton) for a legal secretary position before Gordon whisked her away to the altar.
Marie was an active partner on the farm for many years and loved their many fishing trips with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, sewing, crocheting, and quilting which will keep all her family warm for many years to come.
A private family service will be held January 11, 2019.
Many thanks to the staff of Castor Long Term Care, Dr. Hanton and Nikki for the excellent care and love they provided over the years.
If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Society.
