Obituary of Donald Thompson
THOMPSON, Donald Alfred P.Eng, Kodak Canada
Don died at Georgetown District Hospital surrounded by love, on Sunday January 27, 2019; freed from the bondage of vascular cognitive dementia to be reunited with his high school sweetheart, Helen, in time to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary! Predeceased by his beloved wife Helen Irene Kells (2006). Much loved and deeply missed by his children Donna, Sue (Pat), Chrys (Kevin), Karen (Wayne). Loving and proud Grandpa of Erin (TJ), Michelle, Kaitlin and Kimberly. Over-the-moon Great Grandpa to Lilly. Dearly loved brother of Patricia Harmer (wife of late Jim), Dundas and Janet Thompson (wife of late brother Bob), Hamilton and brother-in-law of Ruby Kells (late husband William), Deseronto and the late Barbara (Kells) and Ed Wood. Don will be remembered by many as a kind, generous, compassionate and fun Uncle, colleague, neighbour and friend.
He touched the lives of many through his years of service at Kodak and Central UC, Weston and particularly through his volunteerism with Special Olympians curling, lawn bowling, and Weston King Neighbourhood Centre. As per Dad’s wishes, he will be cremated, a private family service will take place and there will be a spring interment at Hamilton Municipal Cemetery, to complete his circle of life in the same area where he was born, raised, met Mom, fell in love, married… In Don’s memory, the family requests donations be made to Special O’s or Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
