Obituary of Christopher Gutteridge
Surrounded by family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus, Christopher “Chris” Gutteridge passed away on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at the age of 40. Beloved husband of Claudette Gutteridge (nee Santos). Loving father of Selina, Elijah, and Tristan. Cherished son of Doug and Marilyn Gutteridge (nee McGregor). Dear brother of Cory Gutteridge, and Carolyn (Derek) Stepniak. Loving grandson and godson of Don and the late Zulma McGregor, and Gene and Shirley Gutteridge. Chris will be forever remembered by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Chris taught religious studies at Ursuline College; he will be deeply missed by his colleagues and students, both past and present. He was instrumental in bringing “We Scare Hunger” to the community of Chatham-Kent. Chris also coached curling and soccer.
Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF CHATHAM (519-352-2390), 4 Victoria Avenue, on Friday, February 1st, 2019, from 3 to 5pm, and again on Saturday morning at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Avenue, Chatham, from 10am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chatham Outreach for Hunger, a trust fund for Chris’ children (additional details will be posted as they are made available), or consider honouring Chris’ life and faith by contributing towards a Memorial Mass at your local parish.
