Charlene Hart Foley 2019

Obituary of Charlene Foley
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Charlene Hart Foley, announce her passing on January 24, 2019 in London, Ontario. Charlene was the daughter of the late Emery and Anna (née Munro) Hart, North East Margaree, Cape Breton. Charlene is survived by her loving husband Timothy Foley and their children: Martha, Halifax, Nova Scotia; Mark and Annie, London, Ontario. She is also survived by her sister Emeryne Hart, Inverness, Cape Breton, brothers Darryl Hart (Ferne), Upper Stewiacke, Nova Scotia, and Derwyn Hart, North East Margaree; mother-in-law Margaret Foley (née Kelly), brothers-in-law Bill Foley, Gerald Foley (Nancy), and sister-in-law Mary Ellen Gray (Ralph), Saint John, New Brunswick; brother-in-law Paul Foley (Dawn-Marie), Ottawa, Ontario; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephew and cousins. Beside her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law John Foley, nephew Kevin Gray and grand-nephew Gordon Gray.
Charlene always reflected and valued her Celtic Cape Breton roots with sustained connections with family and childhood friends. Throughout her life, Charlene appreciated various art-forms. As a young girl and into adulthood she played the piano and shared her love of music by making it possible for her children to pursue their interests. She loved attending musical and theatre arts, enjoyed painting lessons and complementing her heritage by completing woodworking projects in her spare time.
Charlene dedicated herself to her family, friends, and church community. Where she saw a need, she worked to make a difference. She was a Sunday School teacher; C.G.I.T. and Girl Guide leader. She was a team leader of Metropolitan Hospitality Meals and enjoyed her work with the UCW “pie ladies”. She welcomed those who stopped by their home with a cup of tea. She continued to enrich their family life in January 2005 with the inclusion of Naishan Tan, a new student to Canada.
The family are most appreciative of the care she received at London Health Sciences Centre hospitals and from the GBM Clinical Trial Team at the Clinique Neuro-Outaouais.
A service to celebrate Charlene’s life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Metropolitan United Church, 468 Wellington St., London, ON. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, followed by her funeral at 12:00 pm, with reception to follow. An interment service will be held at a later date in Margaree, Cape Breton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
