Forever In Our Hearts
Wilmore (Whitey), passed away peacefully Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Wascana Grace Hospice, Regina, SK, after a lengthy illness. He was 85 years old.
Wilmore was born October 14, 1932, in Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland, the third child of Samuel and Emma Rideout.
He married the love of his life, Vivian Stuckless, and, in 2017, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
His passing occurred two days before what would have been their 66th wedding anniversary.
Wilmore leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Vivian; seven children Ed (Lois), Marilyn White, Dale (Val), Derek (Nadine), Vicky Siebert, Valerie Rideout (Doug) and Melvin (Toni-Lynne); as well as 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind five of his eight brothers, their wives and families.
Wilmore joined the military in 1957, first with the Reserves, then with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corp. (RCOC). This is where he picked up his nickname “Whitey.” Whitey had postings in Cobourg, ON, and Gagetown, New Brunswick.
In 1960, Whitey was deployed by the United Nations Emergency Forces (UNEF), on a peacekeeping mission to Gaza, Egypt.
Whitey loved the outdoors, and went on many hunting, fishing, and camping trips. He also loved spending time in his workshop, creating many wooden masterpieces.
A CELEBRATION OF WILMORE’S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wilmore may be made to the Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK S4R 8P6.
