William Dunlop
1932-2018
William George Dunlop – 86, of Kentville, N.S.,
passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at home. Born on July 6, 1932
in Kincardine, Ont., he was a son of the late Hugh and Elizabeth
(McCrindle) Dunlop. George joined the RCAF in 1950, and over a
three-decade-plus career, served in Summerside, P.E.I., Greenwood,
N.S., Comox, B.C., Halifax, and Lahr, Germany, earning the Military
Medal of Merit and CD and retiring with the rank of major. After his
military service, he and his late wife Barbara moved to Annapolis
Royal, N.S, where they ran a bed-and-breakfast, The Turret. He is
survived by his children, Malcolm, Colleen (Sharpe) and Robert;
brothers Glen (Bev), Kincardine, Ont.; and eight grandchildren,
Alexander, Catherine, Jocelyn, Larissa, Matthew, Calla, Mason and
Rory. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Matheson) and brothers,
Robert (Bob), Cameron and John. Cremation has taken place. A memorial
event will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to
Doctors Without Borders (Medecins sans frontieres), Valley Regional
Hospital Foundation in Kentville, or the charity of one’s
choice.
