In Loving Memory
Carmen “Wayne” Johnston, beloved husband of Susan Johnston of Calgary, passed away suddenly surrounded by family on November 27th 2018 at the age of 72. Wayne was born in Weyburn SK and grew up on his family farm in Goodwater SK.
Wayne was the loving father of Jeffrey (Kelly) Johnston and Stacy (Adam) Terlecki and will be dearly missed by his 2 grandchildren Jon Terlecki and Presley Johnston.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his brother Larry (Kathleen) Johnston of Edmonton AB, sisters Karen (Brian) Williams of Kenosee Lake SK, Elaine (Mel) Hoffman of Weyburn SK and Shelly (Harvey) Boutin of Whitewood SK and Great Aunt Joan Johnston of Calgary AB, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Carmen and Frances Johnston
Wayne adored his grandchildren and was so proud of them. He would light up talking about them and loved watching them grow and showing off all the new and wonderful things that they had learnt to do or say. On any given day he would have a roll of new videos or photos to proudly show to anyone who had the time to look, even the cashier at Tim Hortons!
Wayne was an avid fisherman and loved his yearly fishing trips to Northern Saskatchewan with his son, daughter, family and friends. Everyone who fished with Wayne knew that each day started with a bet for the person who caught the most fish and the biggest fish….somehow his “count” always seemed to put him in the lead which always seemed a little “fishy” to his fellow fishermen.
He was the go to guy for anything that needed fixed or repaired and was a mentor to both his kids offering words of wisdom and encouragement in just the right way at the right time. He greeted everyone he met with a smile and a “Howdy Ho” and had a knack for making people feel special. We will miss his kindness, gentle smile and sense of humor.
Catch a big one for us dad, missing you until we see you again.
As per Wayne’s wishes there will be no service and a family memorial will be held at a later date
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
A special thank you to the Dr’s and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Center and Rockyview General Hospital (Unit 73) in Calgary.
