Obituary of WALTER MUCZ
Walter John Mucz
After battling many health issues, Walter passed away peacefully with his wife Ruby by his side at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 28, 2018.
Walter was loved and will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Ruby of 55 years and children Richard (Jennifer) and their children Vanessa and Dylan; David (Cheryl) and their children Teagan, Haley and Carlee; Marianne (Rene) and their children Jasmine and Shayla; and Joanne (Hector) and their children Natalya, Tryce and Deklen; sister Sophie Lipinski (Ed); sister Mary Miller; brothers-in-law Walter (Kathy) Litvinchuk; Leonard Litvinchuk; Bill (Chris) Litvinchuk and numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Stella Mucz, sister Olga and his in-laws Walter and Anne Litvinchuk.
Walter was born in Shoal Lake Manitoba on October 2, 1935 and began life on his parent’s farm in Menzie, Manitoba. His father also worked for CN Rail during their time in Menzie. The family moved to Miniota and eventually to Winnipeg where Walter attended Isaac Newton High School. After completing high school, he worked in the family grocery store. Walter was an accomplished accordion player and by 1955 he began playing with various bands on a regular basis in the Winnipeg area. In 1962 Walter joined Brooke Bond Ltd in the sales department and worked there until 1975 while still assisting in the family grocery store. After retiring in 2003, Walter spent most of his days enjoying his family, children, their spouses and especially his ten grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting his children in Ottawa, Calgary, Regina and Winnipeg until health issues prevented him from travelling.
Walter was a dear husband, father and grandfather and brother with a kind, giving heart and easygoing personality who always put others first. His laughter and sense of humor were trademarks of his personality and it was the way he approached life. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
A funeral service will be held for Walter on July 6th, 2018 at 11:00 am at the St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie Street Winnipeg.
