With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of W. Robert Sharkey, which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Monday, August 13, 2018. He was born July 15, 1933 in Saint John to the late Andrew G. and Evelyn A. (McDonald) Sharkey.
A graduate of St. Vincent’s Boy’s High School, class of 1950, Robert worked as an Insurance Agent for numerous years and owned and operated his own Convenience Store in Sus, NB. He lived many years between Spencer, Massachusetts and Azul, Argentina.
Robert is survived by his sister Joan Sharkey of Saint John and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by his brothers; Donald J. Sharkey, Peter E. Sharkey , infant sister Rita E. Sharkey and his former wife.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), with visitation hours being held on Thursday, August 16 from 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Friday, August 17 at 11 am with Father Jim McQuade presiding.
Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
