VERNA O’DONNELL
Verna O’Donnell, 94, passed away in the presence of her devoted and loving family on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Stratford General Hospital. Born May 12, 1924 in Logan Township, daughter of the late Daniel and Emma (Reubesam) Wolfe. She married the love of her life, Lewis O’Donnell (predeceased in 1995) on July 30, 1949. The family takes great comfort in knowing that they have been reunited in their love once again.
Verna is survived by sons David, Paul, and Rick (Angela), as well as grandchildren Keith, Kathryn Fehr (Jake), Dan (Ange), Trish Ritz (Christopher), Phillip, Sharnell Hordo (Tim), and Daniel (Caroline Berner). She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Delequest, Nevaeh, and Gavin O’Donnell, Lucas Fehr, and Mason Ritz. Lovingly remembered by the O’Donnell family and her nieces and nephews who were very near and dear to her heart.
Besides her parents and husband, Verna was predeceased by brothers Carmen (Eileen), Elmer (Bernice) and Orvin, sisters Gertrude Winters (Bill), Martha Percy (Norman), and Velma McKellar, special niece Jane Miller, and great-grandson Kayden Fehr.
Over the years, Verna enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitch, trips to Edmonton, reading a good book, and visiting with her many family and friends. Verna was a gentle soul who spent many years of her life caring for others. She was a positive presence in the lives of all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, 108 St. David St., Mitchell from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gery Luck officiating. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Interment in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Grace Lutheran Church would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
