Glace Bay
Ursula O’Brien, age 86 of Glace Bay, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.
Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Coleman) Currie.
Ursula was a loving, kind and devoted wife, mother, and friend to many. Her wit and selfless nature will be dearly missed. Her door was always open and the teapot always on, family, friends and even strangers were always welcome.
Those left to carry her memory are her beloved husband of 65 years, Michael Gregory O’Brien, daughters, Arlene Taylor (David), Shelly Gates (Bruce) and Kelly O’Brien (Paul), sisters, Bernice Steele (Alex), Anne O’Laney (Bernie), 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ursula was predeceased by her brother, John Currie and sisters, Margie Kelly and Germaine Stevenson.
“Mom, your essence will remain strong in our hearts!”
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Duaine Devereaux will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church followed by a reception in the foyer.
