We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Sylvia Mildred Bruno (nee Parrish) after a courageous battle with cancer. Sylvia passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 13, 2018 at 78 years of age.
Sylvia was predeceased by her father Laurence, mother Mildred, her husband John, brother Dale and sister Helen. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughters Tammy and Kim, her son Robert (Robin), her four grandchildren; Candice (Gerry), Justin (Jaylyn), Samantha and Amanda, her six great-grandchildren; Owen, Ryn, Abigail, Heidi, Dallas and Jaxon. She will also be deeply missed by her sister Janet, her companion Tom, her nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Sylvia was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta and was raised in Bezanson, Alberta until she moved to Ymir, BC.
She had numerous jobs throughout her life before she worked as a Care Aide until her retirement. Sylvia was a tireless and selfless volunteer involved with Girl Guides, Pythian Sisters, curling, golfing and the Salmo Villa. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and was always willing to help out anybody that needed it.
You could always find Sylvia camping, travelling, doing a puzzle, reading or on an early morning walk with her dog Benji and she would never pass up a good game of cards.
Sylvia’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Sylvia’s kind spirit, passion for canning, love of reading and zest for life will live on through them. She will be missed but not forgotten.

A Celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Salmo Royal Canadian Legion Branch #217. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
