Obituary for
Suriya “Pak” Sae-Phan
Suriya Pak Sae-phan
October 29, 1996 – May 20, 2018
Suriya Pak Sae-phan was born on October 29, 1996, in Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand. He was a cute, talkative child, and he was curious about everything; he always had many questions for his parents. Grandparents, uncles and aunts, and cousins also surrounded and loved him in his early years.
When Suriya was 7 ½ years old, he moved with his family to Canada. He learned English very quickly. While attending Dufferin Elementary School, he excelled in his classes and won many awards for academic excellence. He also volunteered his time in a variety of ways, including helping with the younger children. He loved to build with Lego and to play games.
Suriya attended Westgate Mennonite Collegiate for a few years and then, after moving with his family to a new neighbourhood, he attended Kildonan-East Collegiate from grades 9 – 12. He especially enjoyed his cooking classes during his high school years. He graduated in 2015.
Pursuing his culinary passions, Suriya got a job as a cook at the MTS Centre. Then in 2017, he opened a Thai restaurant together with his parents. He learned the many skills and responsibilities of owning and operating a family business and was a great help to his parents.
Suriya’s sudden death on May 20, 2018, was a great shock to his family and friends. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his parents Sadudee and Janfong Sae-phan; by his brothers Neramit and Jeremy; and by his sister Chrisly. Grandparents, uncles and aunts, and cousins – both here in North America and in Thailand – are also mourning his death. He was pre-deceased by his paternal grandfather in Thailand.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Suriya Pak Sae-Phan 1996 2018.source
