Stewart Russell Robertson
Stewart Russell Robertson, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away peacefully Friday June 1st at Stratford General Hospital.
Born April 3rd 1947 in Edinburgh, his family emigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled in Elora Ontario. Stewart moved to Stratford in 1970. He spent 41 seasons as a prop maker at the Stratford Festival. He had been an active member of Stratford, Perth, St. Marys, and New Hamburg Community Theatre Groups, Central United Church and Knox Presbyterian, the Stratford Skating Club and the Legion. An avid gardener, quilter, singer, cottager and lover of life, he was our energizer bunny, a jack of all trades and will be remembered for so many of his wonderful talents and gifts shared with generosity. He will be sadly missed by wife of 39 years Gail (nee Homersham) daughter Erin and son in law Ray Padilla, sisters Marj Martin, Joan (Brian) Aiken, Janet (John) Moynihan, sister in law Midge (Bob) Sprenger, brother in law Wally (Darlene) Homersham, nieces and nephews Nancy, Carol, Deann, Jason, Dan, Danny, Chris, Pat, Mike, his cottage family and his many wonderful friends.
Predeceased by parents Florence (nee Colquhoun) and James and brother in law Gord Martin.
Visitation with take place at Rutherford Cremation and Funeral Services, 804 Ontario St. Stratford, on Tuesday, June 5, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A celebration of life service will take place at KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 142 Ontario St, Stratford, on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11 a.m.
As expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Stratford General Hospital.
