Obituary for Stewart Mank
Mank, Stewart:
Passed away on Monday, February 26th, 2018 in his 92nd year following complications of the flu.
Stewart was born at home, in Waterloo, September 30, 1926. He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Edna Mank, by his sister Ethel and his brother, Fred.
Stewart is survived by his son Robert and his wife Grace of Cambridge, and by his daughter Pamela of Kitchener. Stewart was particularly blessed by the friendship of George Rupert, Keith Parker, Charlie Mattice and Barry Wylie for many years.
Deferred during his first year at university, Stewart reported to Wolseley Barracks in May 1945 but was not inducted. In 1948, he graduated from Waterloo College (Western University) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was called to the Bar following graduation as Barrister and Solicitor from Osgoode Hall in 1952, and subsequently practiced law in Kitchener for 46 years. Stewart was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1976. In 1991, he received a conformity Bachelor of Law Degree from the Osgoode Hall School of York University and the degree of “Juris Doctor” in 2013.
Stewart was among the last of a special generation of K-W residents. Often rising above modest origins, the people of this “Old School” were distinguished by their honesty, integrity and strong sense of responsibility. Like these peers, Stewart was a hard-working, quiet and reliable man who routinely sacrificed for others.
Cremation and interment has taken place.
