Obituary for
Steve Eleniak
It is with great sadness that on November 10, 2018, Steve Eleniak of Peers, Alberta passed away suddenly but peacefully at the age of 89 years.
Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Annie; his children, Patricia (Ron), Nick (Anne-Marie) and Jim (Angie), as he joins his daughter, Sylvia. Memories of “Gigi” will always be cherished by his grandchildren, Joshua (Sarah), Kaitlyne, Meghan, Kaitlyn and Jarrod. Steve is also survived by his brothers and sister, Stanley (Irene), Adeline (Alan) Koshka and Lawrence (Betty); and sister-in-law Pauline. Steve is predeceased by his parents, John W. and Anna; sisters, Irene Snatynchuk and Pauline Prybysh; brothers, Peter, Walter and Paul; sister-in-law, Emelia and brothers-in-law, Isaac Prybysh and Daniel Snatynchuk.
While his absence will be an immense loss to all those who knew him, his spirit and strength will never be forgotten. He was an incredibly caring man; his heart complemented by his playful sense of humor and steadfast character. Often a man of few words, he was thoughtful and quick to joke, bringing a smile to those around him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A special thank you to the first responders and medical professionals to whom we owe many healthy years of Steve’s later life. He was tended to with utmost care and for that we will always be grateful.
Prayer Service Thursday, November 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Edson Funeral Home, 5040 – 6 Avenue, Edson.
Divine Liturgy Tuesday November 20 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Chipman, AB. Basilian Fathers officiating with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Chipman Church and Stars Air Ambulance.
