Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of Steve
Stephen (Steve) Drobnich, February 4th, 1967 – February 8th, 2018. Aged 51.
After a long battle, which he fought to the very end – “he heard the final bell”. Survived by his loving wife Karen and son Michael, whom he was always so proud of. Loving parents Gladys and Frank, and sister Christine (David Funk) will miss him terribly. He will be lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews, especially Julia and Alexander Funk, mother-in-law Lucy Redman, sister-in-law Dianne Redman and brother-in-law Jamie Redman. Predeceased by sister-in-law Jeanette Vallee and brother-in-law Lance Vallee.
Steve was talented and creative and he enjoyed working with metal, both machining and welding along with woodworking. A Machine Repairman, Machinist, Industrial Mechanical Millwright, Steve’s past employment included Machine Repairman at General Motors and Kelsey Hayes in St. Catharines, Production Supervisor at General Motors in St. Catharines and a Maintenance Supervisor at General Motors Oshawa Car Plant #1 and #2. However, after attaining a business degree and then a teaching degree he found his niche, a job he truly loved. His calling was teaching high school. He taught Co-op and Manufacturing among many other courses at Robert Bateman High School in Burlington since 2004, and he always hoped to have made a small difference in the lives of his students. Based on the letters he received through the years, we know that he did.
Hard working and driven, he enjoyed home improvement projects and travelling the world. Going to Europe three times, and taking Karen and Michael the last time was one of his highlights. Spending time with his family and walking his dog Max gave Steve the greatest joy.
Steve was a member of the Seymour Masonic Lodge #277 Port Dalhousie, the Canadian Legion #350 Port Dalhousie and Stamford United Church Niagara Falls.
