Stanley Michael O’Leary
O’Leary, Stanley Michael, 73 of Nine Mile River passed away November 6, 2018 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Queensport, he was a son of the late Robert and Geneva (Pelrine) O’Leary. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Stan is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Porter); children, Alan (Lorrie), Joanne, Roderick (Amy); step children, Rebecca Porter, James (Maria) Porter; grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, Jacob, Gwenyth, Olivia; brothers, Joseph, Bernard; sisters, Eileen (Michael) Hagar, Geraldine (Earl) Bond along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret as well as Christine in infancy and Havelock Williams who was like a stepfather to Stan. He worked many years for Volvo Canada Ltd. starting in 1967 until the plant closed on December 18, 1998. Through his hard work and dedication he advanced to become foreman of the paint and adjustment area. After his career at Volvo, he continued his love of cars by repairing them in “the garage” (Queensport Collision) at his home. Stan loved being with his family at his cottage and homestead in Queensport where he enjoyed, hunting, fishing, boating (waterskiing) and dancing. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 pm Friday, Nov 9 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 pm Saturday, Nov. 10 at Saint Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliffe Dr., Halifax. A private burial will take place in Queensport at a later date.
