Obituary of Sonja Leiler
Sonja Leiler, a long-time resident of Wembley, Alberta passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 in Whispering Pines Seniors Lodge in Grande Cache, Alberta at the age of 88 years.
Sonja Minna Margaret was born on June 23, 1930 in Grande Prairie, Alberta to parents Verne and Matilda Stamp. She grew up on the family farm outside of Wembley and resided in Hythe for many years. She received her Education Degree at the University of Alberta and worked in the Hythe School for most of her career. Sonja taught in many one-room school houses across the North.
Sonja loved to keep information and was currently organizing a family tree. Corresponding by letters to all European family was also a love of hers. Sonja enjoyed riding her bike, cross country skiing, curling, and dancing. She was a member of the Wembley Silver Gold Center and the Lake Saskatoon Community Club.
Sonja was predeceased by her parents, and her husband Henry Leiler in 2015.
Sonja will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Sonja’s family would like to invite you to a Memorial Service on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Wembley United Church (9703-100th Street, Wembley). Reverend Neal Palmer will officiate. Interment will take place in the Lake Saskatoon Cemetery following the service.
