Obituary of Shirley Mailman
MAILMAN, Shirley Nelson – Age 86, of Bridgewater, formerly of Springfield, passed away on Monday, September 17th, 2018 in Ryan Hall, Bridgewater. Born on May 2nd, 1932, he was a son of the late Watkin and Beatrice (McDonald) Mailman.
Shirley started out working in the woods at a young age cutting wood. He went on to learn how to operate equipment and drove a dozer for 20 years with Martell Construction, constructing the 100 Series Highway. He also worked for Bernard Mailman Projects driving dozers until his retirement. Shirley took up camping with his wife, Nola, and drove her to various venues playing her music. He loved gardening and doing projects in his workshop for his family, friends and grandchildren. He resided at Ryan Hall for the last 5 years until his passing.
Shirley is survived by his son, Kevin (Jeanne, New Brunswick) Mailman, Lake Pleasant; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sisters, Lina, Ethel and Theta; brother, Bernard Mailman; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Nola (Crouse) Mailman; daughter, Jane Mailman; sons, Timothy and Dale Mailman.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of C.F. Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. By request there will be no visitation. A celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 21st, 2018 in the Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield, Rev. Lester Simpson officiating.
