Obituary for
Shirley Meunier
MEUNIER, SHIRLEY (née Ward) (1940-2018) It is with great sadness that the family announces her unexpected death at age 78 resulting from vascular surgery complications on Monday, December 10th, 2018 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury. She fought a brave battle and when she could no longer speak in her last hours, she wrote notes to her family who surrounded her by her bedside. She showed and expressed her love for her family throughout her entire life and until her last moments. She left this world peacefully while the song Mother by Sugarland played. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Ray on December 5, 2008. Loving mother of Pauline Lawryniw (Orest) of Timmins, Paulette Osipenko (Ken) of Timmins, Rachel Meunier (Richard Lavoie) of Ottawa, Jay (Lori) of Timmins and Ray Jr. (Jennifer) of Timmins. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law of Eileen Meunier (Timmins) and Flo Meunier (Montreal). She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law Clem Meunier, Al Meunier, Roger Meunier, Ted Meunier and Gerry Meunier. She was predeceased by her mother Margaret in May 1997. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins who were dear to her. Shirley was born and raised in Ansonville and then spent most of her life in Timmins. She adored her children and grandchildren and saw her children as the Rainbows of life and grandchildren as the Pot of Gold. Shirley made sure her family knew that they were the best thing that ever happened to her. She also loved cooking, fishing, and the outdoors. After her retirement from Extendicare, Shirley spent all her summers at Big Bear Camp – Horwood Lake with her husband Ray until his death and also enjoyed the company and appreciated the help of her loving friends Terry and Ron Cook, Carmen and Lou Larche, Claude Chartier, Bill and Marie Hills, Angie and the rest of her summer family. She was also an avid sports fan who cheered for the Montreal Canadiens and who very much enjoyed watching her grandsons playing hockey. Funeral mass will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart Parish. The family will receive friends on Friday December 14th, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the
