BURNIE, Shane – It is with incredible sadness yet, relief that the family of Shane Burnie announce his peaceful passing at Cornwall Hospice on Thursday June 28, 2018 at the age of 70 years. Much loved husband and best friend of Lynette (née Hodgins) Burnie. Loving father to Erin Alcaide (Vincent), Shannon Snelgrove (Mark) and Allison Belanger (Denis). Proud grandpa to Ethan, Emilee, Madison, Evan, Riley, Owen and Emma. Loved son of the late Albert and Lillian (née Duff) Burnie. Dear brother of Betty Jane McLaren (Ken), Sharon Burnie-Gardiner (Syd), Verlyn Auty (late Stanley), and Bob Burnie (Brenda). He is also fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Resting at the Wilson Funeral Home 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall where visitation will be held on Friday July 6 th from 9-10:30 AM. In celebration of Shane’s faith, strength and courage, the Mass of the Resurrection with Commendation and Farewell will be celebrated in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church 434 Second Street, West, Cornwall on Friday July 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal to take place in St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Long Sault, Ontario. If so desired contributions in his memory to Cornwall Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
