Sarah “Sally” Duquette
Sarah (Sally) Karine Duquette, 85, of Midland, ON, passed away on March 4, 2018 at
Georgian Bay General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer . She was born in Timmins, ON on September 15, 1932, daughter of the late Arnum and Elizabeth MacFayden. She was spouse to the late Fortunat Gravel (1973) and Leonard Duquette (1996). She was also mother to the late Daniel (2012) and survived by her
children, Robert (wife Jennifer), Alice, Ronald, Patricia (husband Patrick), Dennis (wife Tricia), and Guy (wife Denise). She is also survived by her grandchildren Ivan, Anders, Tyler, Scott, Michelle, Rusty, Renee, Autumn, Bryce, Marie and Christopher together with numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Sally was a member of the Penetanguishene Legion Branch 68 and Midland Legion Branch 80 for over 40 years as well as a member of the Pipes and Drums Colour Party and the Ontario Mass Band. She also served on the Midland Legion’s Executive for many years. She had a passion for the legion and its activities that was unsurpassed and participated in parades, veterans’ functions and special days throughout the year. She served on the Sick and Visiting and the Ways and Means Committees as well as organized and ran the meat draws at the Midland Legion for many years. Sally loved figure skating of which she competed in her teenage years in Timmins, ON. She loved a variety of sports including hockey, UFC in particular , and figure skating.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Midland Legion Branch 80, upstairs, on Sunday,
March 18, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome and words of
remembrance are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Georgian Bay General Hospital, Palliative and Complex
Continuing Care Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A very
special thanks to the PN, RNs, RPNs and PSWs who diligently cared for our mother
over the past three months and who eased her passing.
