Russell Stewart Woodin August 31 2018

Woodin, Russell Stewart – Age 90, of Westville and formerly of Upper Musquodoboit, passed away August 31, 2018, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Upper Musquodoboit, he was a son of the late Arthur and Estella (Dean) Woodin.
Russell’s working years were spent as a diamond driller, working for his brother-in-law, John Logan. He enjoyed baseball, hockey and music. He always put his family first and they were loved unconditionally by him. His dog, Fred, was an important part of his life.
Surviving are his daughter-in-law and caregiver, Kim MacLean-Woodin, Westville; daughters, Pam (Rod) Dean, Truro; Stephanie (Shaun) Newsome, Whitehorse, Yukon; grandchildren, Roderick (Amy) Dean, Lindsay (Luke) Verboom, Tristan (Eva) Newsome, Catherine (Gabe) Newsome, Briana MacLean; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye (John) Logan, Muriel Dean, Lynda (Norman) Murray; sister-in-law, Leola Woodin. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Logan); sons, John, Frederick in infancy; sister, Karen; brother, Elwyn.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Russell’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 5, at 2 p.m., in St. James United Church, Upper Musquodoboit, Calvin Burt officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
