OBITUARY
Roderick Allan Clark
April 13, 1949 – December 14, 2018
On December 14, 2018, the last song was played in the life of Roderick Allan Clark (aka – Rockin’ Roddy). He passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and surrounded by his children. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan and his children Tina (Anthony), Troy (Amanda), Stace (Dani) and his stepson, Chris (Suzanne). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Kaylee, Ethan, Johanna, Abbygale, Linden, Grace and Elliott. He leaves behind his siblings Glen (Carol), Larry (Maxine), Pam (Stan), Lori (Wayne), and his in-laws Gene, Stephen (Susan) and Michael (Debbie) as well as numerous relatives and friends, including our matchmaker – Tanya. Rod was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Virginia, sisters Marilyn and Diane, brother-in-law George and stepson, Matthew.
Rod loved playing guitar and singing. He entertained family and friends with his amazing repertoire of songs. He loved golfing and some of his fondest memories were of golf tournaments with his sons. Rod also enjoyed travelling, doing tai chi and trying his luck at the casino.
Rod was born in Mission BC on April 13, 1949. He moved to Mackenzie BC and worked at the pulp mill for 34 years, retiring in 2008. Once Susan retired they moved to Kelowna and enjoyed the amazing Okanagan lifestyle for 5 years. In early September 2018, Rod was diagnosed with cancer which he fought bravely but nothing could stop it.
We thank the health care professionals who cared for Rod in his final months, Dr. Leanne Armstrong, Dr. Emily Pratt and her staff, the staff at KGH in Emergency, 4B and 3W. The Palliative Care Team for HCCB were so supportive during the final weeks, especially nurse Deanna, social worker Jaclyn and physical therapist Louise. Finally, thanks to the Medical Assistance in Dying team (MAiD) for their compassion helping Rod to leave this world peacefully on his own terms.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Rod’s name to Dying with Dignity, Canadian Red Cross Equipment Loan program or Inspire Health Kelowna would be appreciated.
