Robert William Hoyt Smith
Robert William Hoyt Smith, age 55 of Morristown and formerly of Brockville, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday evening November 7, 2018. A celebration of his life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday November 10, 2018 at Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland with Pastor Robert Duncan officiating. A reception will follow at the Roselawn Reception Centre.
Surviving is his wife Fern; three daughters Crystal (Dan) Sills of Perth, Melissa Watson of Prescott, and Erin (Cory) Banford of Brockville; grandchildren Caleb, Briana, Aidan, Chloe, Abigail, Andie & Alexis; his parents Winston & Eileen Smith of Ottawa; two sisters Patricia Smith of Ottawa and Stephanie Wilton-Duncan and her husband Rob Duncan of Niagara Falls; his father-in law John (Kitty) Kingsley of Ottawa along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Robert was born on August 16, 1963 in Ottawa, a son of Winston & Eileen (Hoyt) Smith. He graduated from Carlton University with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He later married Fern Kingsley on Sept 30, 1988 in Brockville.
Robert worked as a self-employed consultant for pharmaceutical quality systems in Raleigh North Carolina. He enjoyed traveling, renovation projects, listening to music, attending concerts, watching sports, being on the St. Lawrence River and spending time with his family and friends.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Animal Centre, 800 Centennial Road, Brockville Ontario K6V 7E6, or to the Brockville & District Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care.
