1947-2018
Passed away suddenly at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s on
Thursday, November 22, 2018, with his devoted wife by his side, Robert
Charles Matthews, aged 70 years. Predeceased by his parents, Roland
and Mildred Matthews; and special sister-in-law, Loretta Matthews.
Leaving to mourn, with fond and loving memories, his wife and the love
of his life for 50 years, Patricia (nee Thorne); his daughter, Debbie
(Guy Marsh); his son, Bobby (Christina); grandchildren: Victoria
(Ryan), Meghan (Justin), Samantha, Emily, Jacqueline, Olivia and Lil’
Bobby; brother, Ronald; brothers-in-law: Jim Thorne (Alice), Ken
Thorne (Patricia) and Gary Thorne (Kim); nieces, nephews and a large
circle of family and friends. Thank you to Dr. Adams, his team and
staff of the Cardiac Care Unit at the Health Sciences Centre and Dr.
Gardiner, his team and staff of the Surgery Unit at St. Clare’s Mercy
Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Hopkins’ Funeral
Home, Old Perlican on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 11:00 am. to
2:00 pm. with funeral service to follow in Hopkins’ Funeral Home
Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations
may be made in Robert’s memory to The Salvation Army.
