Crossan, Robert Wilfred (Bob)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Crossan on July 5, 2018 at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener surrounded by his family, at age 84. Those who knew Bob were very familiar with his sharp wit and sense of humor. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1951-1972, aiding peacekeeping missions in Korea, and other far flung destinations. Prior to receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1972 he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. On his return to civilian life Bob started his own mechanical business which he eventually left to join the Waterloo Regional Police Service as a Courts Constable. He also served proudly with the Auxiliary Police unit and spent many long hours working alongside his friends in the Traffic Services Division. His pride and respect for the members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service never waned. In recent years Bob was a member of the Country Hills Church and took joy and comfort in the sermons of Pastor Jeremy. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of over 60 years, Dolores, his sons Randy and Robert and their extended families. He was predeceased by his parents Levena and Wilfred Watson, daughter Cynthia and brother Thomas (London). The family wishes to thank staff of Lanark Place Retirement Home, the great people at the Waterloo Wellington LHIN, the doctors and nursing staff at St. Mary’s General Hospital and the Region of Waterloo Paramedics for their gentle care, compassion and humor over the past 4 months. Honoring Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service and interment will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery in Breslau. In lieu of flowers, messages of sympathy and donations to the St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated and can be made through Bob’s memorial at the Memory Gardens website, www.arbormemorial.ca/en/memory/obituaries
