Robert Bob MacWilliam 19262018

Robert “Bob” MacWilliam
1926-2018
Robert (Bob) Wayne MacWilliam, aged 91, of Summerside
(formerly of Elmsdale, PEI) passed away peacefully with family by his
side on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Robert, beloved husband of Evelyn
(Cook) MacWilliam was born in Milburn PEI on March 23, 1926, son of
the late Wilfred and Lilla (MacNeil) MacWilliam. He grew up in the
Milburn area going to school, fishing in the brook and catching and
trying to raise numerous wild animals (mink, fox, etc.). As a young
man he worked in his father’s saw mill and fished lobster
before moving to Hamilton, Ontario in 1948 for a few years. He met
Evelyn in 1952 and they were married in 1954. After briefly working at
Schurman’s in Summerside they moved to Elmsdale where they
raised their five children and Robert successfully owned a service
station. At age 54 he turned his many talents to carpentry. Among his
many completed projects, he was most proud of the Cape Cod-style house
he built in Mill River. In their retirement years Robert and Evelyn
moved to Summerside. Robert loved to fish and hunt and play
golf.
Robert was the cherished father of Gordon (Cindy), Halifax;
Leonard (Beverley), Winnipeg; Dianne (Rick) Meunier, Moncton; Judy
(Ross) Thompson, Summerside; and Lisa (Jerry) Stewart, Wood
Islands.
He was a loving grandfather to Duncan and Kelly
MacWilliam; Stuart Morley; Christopher, Patrick, and Michael Thompson;
and Jessica and Robert Stewart. He was a dear brother to Jean MacKie
and Ross (Connie) MacWilliam; brother-in-law to Kathleen MacWilliam,
Leonard Cook, Phyllis Easter, and Miriam Cooke.
Robert was predeceased by his brother Roy, sister Anne
Phillips, son-in-law Stuart Morley, and brothers-in-law, Erland
Phillips, Colin Easter and Walter
MacKie, sister in law Donna Cook and by three
nephews.
Robert’s family would like to thank the staff at
Summerset Manor for their compassionate care of their
father.
