Obituary of Richard Harvey
Richard passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14 at 92 years of age. He was predeceased by Mildred, his wife and best friend for 62 years. Richard is survived by his daughter Marissa of Brockville, his son Gordon and daughter-in-law Susan of Algonquin Highlands, grandchildren Caileigh, Iain, Dawn and husband Brian, great-grandsons Ben and Wesley, and his brother Warren.
Born in London, Ontario in 1925, Richard’s family relocated to Toronto where he enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1944. Returning from his service he met and married Mildred and started a small home flooring business. He began teaching in 1962, moving to St. Lawrence High School in Cornwall in 1963, then later to Seaway District in Iroquois. Settling in Brockville in 1976, Richard and Mildred enjoyed their home overlooking the river and were devoted to their children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader, a jazz and movie fan, and his youthful outlook reflected decades of healthy eating, yoga and meditation. A highlight of his retirement years was completing an end to end hike of the 890 km Bruce Trail. Richard was a true gentleman and will be remembered by his family and friends for his dapper style, his bow ties, and his kind and generous nature.
Thank you to his health care providers and the staff at Rosedale for four years of caring attention. To honour Richard’s wishes a funeral will not be held. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundation gratefully appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville. Messages of condolence may be made online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Richard
