Obituary Overview
Richard Swim
Richard spent many years in the banking industry and with Homes for
Special Care. He also had a short time spent in the Real Estate
industry.
He was an avid sports fan, following baseball, hockey, golf and
basketball with a particular affinity for the Toronto Blue Jays and
Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In his younger days, he had a passion for bowling and participated in
many leagues including competitively throughout the Maritimes and
Eastern United States.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Wendy
(Kidd) Swim, daughters Shannon (David) Moses, Tara (David) Baker and
precious grandchildren Cody, Nathan, Carter, Abigail & Madison;
siblings Donnie, Roger (Elsie), Mary (Gary) Newell, Marcella (David)
Gross, Brian (Colleen), Gregory (Zhiqui), Bradley (Pam), Timmy
(Paulette). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother
Gary.
Special thanks to Dr. Peter MacAulay for the exceptional care he
provided to Richard over many years. The family would also like to
thank the nurses in the QEII Emergency department for the care and
compassion they provided at such a difficult time.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request.
The family will be together over the Christmas holidays and a
Celebration of Life will be held January 5th at 1pm at Port Wallis
United Church, Waverley Road, Dartmouth with Rev. Blake Caldwell
presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society
of Canada or Prostate Cancer Canada.
