Richard Dick Alvin MACKEY October 17 1943 April 29 2018 (age 74)

We are sad to inform friends and family of the passing of Richard Alvin Mackey, better known as Dick.
Dick was predeceased by his loving parents, Ida and Richard Mackey; his beloved first wife, Glenda; as well as his second wife, Donna Mae. He will be missed dearly by his stepsons, Bill and Ron Johnson and their wives, Corinna and Terri; grandchildren, Madeline, Courtney and Rachel of Langley, BC and Liberty and Maverick of Atlanta, Georgia; along with family from Victoria, Pat & Libby Waddell and their children, Erin and Garret; close cousin, Mark Mackey; as well as all the extended family and friends throughout Alberta and BC.
Dick travelled as a young child with his parents as his father worked as a Ranger throughout Alberta. He was educated along his journey and come to eventually work for many years with Husky Oil and spent the better part of his adult years in and around Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
In retirement, love came to him again and he married Donna in New Orleans in 2005. Together they set their dream in motion to have a home in Parksville, BC where he lived out his final days. He was able to remain independent because of his close local friends whom he greatly cherished. Dick was a story teller – so full of wisdom with a baritone radio voice.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Dick’s honour at Yates Memorial Services, 1000 Allsbrook Road in Parksville at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 13, 2018.
