Reta Moore
September 11, 1928 – December 4, 2018
Reta May Moore (nee Prickett) passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 8:00 p.m., with her family by her side.
Reta was born September 11, 1928 to the late Laura and Albert Prickett. She met her lifelong love, Douglas Arthur Moore while in public school, and they married June 30, 1951. She is survived by her family: husband Douglas, son Randall and Annalee, daughters Gail Moore and Diane Lorbetski, and “second Mom” to Karen Herteis. Beloved grandmother to Shannon (Lana), Jessica (Scott), Melissa (Kyle), Anastasia (Tony), and Riley (Amanda). She was blessed with great grandchildren Lochlan, Adelaide, Everlee, Poppy, Tatiana, Edison, and Everett. Reta will be missed by her sisters Mildred Hartrick (late Bob) and Audrey Thomas (late George) and sisters-in-law Lorraine Prickett and Pat Moore. Also remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Wilson Prickett, sisters Helen Schlueter (Cecil), Eileen McCormick (Hugh), Doris Herteis (Elmer), and longtime friend Betty Stever. The joy of Reta’s life was her family. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, bird watching, and loved a good road trip. The family would like to thank the staff at University Gates, Waterloo. Their compassion and thoughtfulness went beyond expectations. Cremation has taken place. Reta’s family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900) on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:15 a.m., where a Celebration of Douglas and Reta’s lives will be held in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington or to a charity of your choice.
