Obituary for Percival Alfred “Percy” Sharpe
SHARPE, Percival “Percy” – It is with thanksgiving for his life and all he brought to ours that the family of Percy Sharpe announces his passing at the Extended Care Unit of the Welland Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2018 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Anne Sharpe (2014) for 66 years. Cherished father of Linda Sharpe-Pietras (Frank) and Kim Topolinsky (Dwight). Proud and loving grandfather of Marlon and Rachel Pietras. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Percy was born in Debuc, Saskatchewan and later settled in Welland. He served as an Auxiliary member of the OPP and was employed for Atlas Steels for over 25 years before finding his passion for Real Estate. He worked at an Agent and later as a Broker owning his own successful business, working in to his early 80’s. Percy was a dedicated and active member of Central United Church in Welland for many years. His greatest love was his wife Anne and their family. A devoted husband and father, he was endlessly invested in his family’s wellbeing and livelihood. Percy leaves a legacy of faith and inspiration to all who knew him. He will be forever loved and missed.
Family and friends will be received at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Saturday, March 3rd beginning at 10 a.m. A service to celebrate Percy’s life will follow in the Cudney Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Extended Care Welland for their exceptional care and genuine kindness over the last few years.
