OBITUARY
Patricia Agnes LaVac
December 1, 1923 – October 29, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Pat La Vac, at the age of 94. Pat was born in England where she met the love of her life Gerry (deceased 2000) who was with the RCAF during WWii. After a voyage on the Queen Elizabeth and a train trip across Canada, Mom and Dad married in Vancouver on December 2,1946. Pat loved to write, and while raising her family in the Veterans Apartments on 4th Avenue, she formed The 4th Avenue Jr. Players with the many offspring of the residents. Pat wrote, directed, and costumed productions such as Aladdin, Hansel and Gretel and Sleeping Beauty, that were performed in schools, Orphanages and Seniors Homes. After retiring from the UBC Law Library, Mom and Dad moved to Delta, where she wrote and directed the annual “Kennedy House Extravaganzas” for the Kennedy House Players. Mom continued her interest in directing musical productions at the age of 94 with a final performance at Bear Creek Park in Spring 2018. Pat was also the Food and Art columnist at the Surrey Leader for many years. At the age of 90 Pat published her autobiography, “Why Me Lord’, describing her life as a young woman during the War years in England. Pat was also an accomplished painter and participated in many art shows in Surrey and Delta. Pat always had an active mind and encouraged discussion on almost any subject, especially politics. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Marilyn (Bill) Rapanos, Patricia La Vac Jr. (Hardy Fischer), Suzanne (Steve) Coffey and her grandchildren, Marika and Stefan Rapanos, Sandra (Chris) Moro, Gregory Hutchinson, Bradley (Jennifer) Coffey, Grant (Rosie) Coffey, Katey Sue Coffey and great grandchildren , Jaden, Madison Moro, Zoe, Billy, Rylee, Lily, Arya, Liam, Rowan, Piper Coffey who loved their Nana dearly. There will be a Celebration of her Life on November 18th at 2:30 pm at the Bear Creek Villa Residence, 8233 140th Street, Surrey BC where she lived happily the last three years of her life.
