In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Palm Marie Cormier, age 87, of Amherst, on Saturday, August 11, 2018, while visiting family in Calgary, AB.
Born in Sackville, NB, Palm was a daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Gogan) Ward.
Palm was a faithful member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst, where she devoted 69 years to the CWL. During this time she held several convenorships and offices; including President on three different occasions. In recognition of her commitment, she was presented with the First Maple Leaf Service pin by her council.
In her younger days, Palm also served as a member of the St. John Ambulance for 25 years where she taught First Aid, was divisional officer and later promoted to divisional superintendent. For this service, she was the recipient of the Serving Sister Medal and the Canadian Service Medal.
Palm enjoyed spending summers at her cottage at Black’s Beach, Linden, lunch dates with her close friends and playing cards, especially with her Card Club ladies, beach friends and family. Dearest to her heart was her loving family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, many friends and her cat, Tiger.
Palm will be lovingly remembered by her four sons, Lawrence Jr. “Larry” (JoAnn), Gary (Pam) and Paul (Joanne) all of Amherst, and Jeffery “JJ” (Allison) of Calgary, AB; daughter, Lisa (Greg) Letcher of Truro, NS; nine grandchildren, Tracy (Lester Leblanc), Taylor, Kelly (Jordan Atkins), Nathaniel, Michael, Marcus, Brianna, Jonah and Morgan; and one great-granddaughter, Allie. She is survived by her sisters, Ann (Walter) Bourgeois, Amherst and Jean (Tom) Kamada of Salmon Arm, BC; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Palm was predeceased by her husband Lawrence “Boobie.”; and a brother, Raymond.
A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm with parish prayers at 8:00 pm all at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902) 667-9906.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11:00 am from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Craig Christenson officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Nativity Cemetery.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Palm’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Vincent de Paul or charity of your choice.
