Nelma Sillanpaa
Sillanpaa, Nelma Wellamo – passed away peacefully at the St. Joseph Hospital in Elliot Lake on April 13, 2018 in her 101st year. Pre-deceased by her husband Paul, she is survived by her two sons Lennard (Leena) of Orleans, Daryl of Thunder Bay and two grandchildren Paul (Liz) and Helena. Nelma was a founding member of the Elliot Lake Kidney Foundation since 1975 and the author of Under The Northern Lights – My Life In The Finnish Community Of Northern Ontario published by the Canadian Museum of History. The family will receive friends at the Elliot Lake Funeral Chapel & Cremation Centre, 36 Ontario Avenue on Friday April 27, 2018. The service will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 11:00 am from the Faith Lutheran Church on Bouck Road. Interment in Woodlands Cemetery, Elliot Lake at a later date. Memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
