Murray Walter Jollimore
Murray Walter Jollimore – age 85, of New Minas,
passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville. Born in Mill Cove, Lunenburg County, he was a son
of the late Warren and Agnes Annie (Whynott) Jollimore.
Murray’s first job was as a bus boy for CN Rail, where he
met his first wife, Audrey. He later owned Jollimore Grocery on Oak
Street, Dartmouth for ten years before beginning a 32 year career with
Canada Post from where he retired. Murray was very community minded
and had been involved in the Boy Scout Movement, coached minor hockey
and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6 as
well as a volunteer fire fighter with New Minas Volunteer Fire
Department. He was also a member of the Canning Baptist Church, the
Canning and Scotts Bay Seniors Groups and a local bowling league,
where he met his second wife, Jackie. Murray loved fishing, golfing,
travelling, playing cards, the Toronto Maple Leafs, spending time in
Florida, a good cigar and a glass of rum. He is survived by two
daughters, Cathy Suttle, New Minas; Susan Jollimore (Rodd), Kentville;
sons, Murray (Debbie), Porters Lake; Terry, Enfield; Bruce, Edmonton,
AB; Paul (Janice), New Minas; 14 grandchildren and five great
grandchildren; step children, Holly (Scott) Lower, Toronto; Albert
(Josephine) Coffill, Habitant; Wendy (Bill) Wolodka, Canning; Heather
(William) Coffill-Ansems, Canning; Janis Jordan, Victoria, BC. He was
predeceased by his first wife, Audrey Elizabeth (MacDonald) and his
second wife, Jacqueline (Legge) (Coffill); infant sister, Norma;
brother, Warren Jr.; half brothers, Letson and Eldon; son-in-law,
Ronald Suttle. Cremation has taken
place. There will be no visitation, by request. A funeral
service, followed by a reception, will take place at 11:00 a.m.
Monday, December 31, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
Burial will take place in the Jaw Bone Corner Cemetery, Canard.
Donations in memory may be made to the Canning Baptist Church. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
