Obituary of Muriel MacDonald
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for the late Gerri MacDonald, formerly of Sydney, who passed away suddenly in Toronto on February 12, 2018, at the age of 62. The Mass will take place at 11 AM on Friday, July 27th from the St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall
Gerri passed away suddenly on February 12, 2018 in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 62. She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on November 14, 1955, a daughter of the late Simon and Muriel (MacDougall) MacDonald. Gerri graduated from Holy Angels High School, and then went on to graduate from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish. From there she moved to Halifax, where she became a graduate of Dalhousie University, earning an MPA, followed by a Law Degree. After graduation from Dalhousie Law School, she spent her remaining years working in Immigration Law in Toronto, until her sudden passing. Gerri enjoyed reading, travelling and sports, as well as time spent in Ben Eoin and Cherry Hill. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen (Mrs. Donnie Earle); and sister-in-law, Ann Marie (Mrs. Simon MacDonald). Gerri is survived by her brothers, Justice Simon (Susan) of Glace Bay; Father Peter of Pictou County; and sister, Cathy of Sydney. She is also survived by nephews, Jeffrey (Rose) Earle, Calgary; Simon (Amanda) MacDonald, Ottawa; niece, Jennifer (Josh) Quinlan, Calgary; brother-in-law, Donnie (Ann) Earle, Coxheath. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
