Moira Cooper
June 21, 1929 – November 9, 2018
COOPER – Dr. Moira of Aurora
June 21 1929 to November 9 2018.
She will be lovingly remembered by children Claire, Leo, Marty (Emily Godfree), Brendan (Marie Flood), Judy (Avrum Soicher), Erica, (Ron Mantay) and Genevieve (Jason Fairclough). Survived by 16 grandchildren: Ben, Sierra, Owen, Grier, Spencer, Laura, Liam, Gabriel, Hannah, Lucie, Maya, Graham, Sean, Nathan, Theo and Linus. Survived by her brother Jimmy Lickley. Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne where she studied medicine, meeting Dr. William E Cooper when they worked together in Harrogate. Immigrated to Canada from England via Ohio where she was Fellow at Cleveland Clinic 1954-1955. Settled in the Niagara area, living in Niagara Falls and Fonthill for 55 years where she raised her family and volunteered in the community.
She loved playing tennis and spending time with her large family and circle of friends. She retained her nurturing warmth, positive outlook, and humour until the end.
Cremation has already taken place. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4673 Victoria Ave., Niagara Falls, ON. Parking at St. Patrick’s Catholic School, access from Maple St. on Saturday November 17 at 9am, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to effect:hope (formerly The Leprosy Mission of Canada), Margaret Bahen Hospice for York Region (Newmarket), St. Patrick Church or charity of choice.
