Mervin Albert Pyne passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on Friday, June 29, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Mervin was born in Tiverton, NS into a large family of 11 children. He married the love of his life, Neta, in September 1958. They relocated to Moncton, NB in 1959 and went on to have three loving daughters.
In his early years, Mervin worked for Small Brothers’ Fisheries, and later was employed by Shell Canada for 40 years, and retired in 1988. Mervin was a member of I.O.O.F. for over 60 years. He loved to travel, visit with family and friends, and watch sports, especially the New York Yankees. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, and was often found cheering them on at their various sporting events.
Mervin is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Neta (Crocker) and daughters Julie (Robert) Langlais, Joanne (Shawn) Hearn, Tracy (Justin) McPherson. Grandchildren: Amy, Ryan, Kelsey, Jason, Tyler, Sarah, Katelyn, Emily, and great granddaughters Sawyer and Presley. He is also survived by sisters Mildred (Austin), Carol (Bryant), Sylvia, brother Jack, and several nieces and nephews.
Mervin was predeceased by his parents, Lily and Irving, brothers Manford, Guy, Paul; sisters Marilyn, Hattie, Barbara, Rena and several brothers and sisters in-law.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Kenneth Spencer Nursing Home, Moncton City Hospital Emergency Room and Palliative Care Unit, as well as Rev. Dean MacDonald, Rev. Colin Cook and Sunny Brae Baptist Church for their wonderful prayers, compassion and care.
Funeral arrangements are being provided by Fergusons Funeral Home of Moncton NB, and Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby, NS. Funeral service will be held at Tiverton Baptist Church, on Long Island, NS, on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastors Rick Small and Tim Long officiating. Followed by a reception at the Tiverton Community Hall.
