Obituary of Maxine Thorburn
From depression torn Nova Scotia, a family persevered where Maxine Gladys Siteman was the youngest sister of 13 other siblings. Maxine passed away at Parkland Extended Care on April 16, 2018. She was 85. Her parents Horace and Odie (Traynor) Siteman resided in Ship Harbour and predeceased Maxine by many decades. Maxine has also been predeceased by eleven of her siblings Freeman (Mary) Siteman, Audrey (Les) Noon, Lillian (Harold) Keeble, Robert, Carl, Earl and Warren Siteman, Freda (Gordon) Burdge, Marie (Jim) Davies and Elva Carpenter. Maxine is survived by two sisters Erma Addison and Leigh Siteman.
Maxine was also predeceased by husbands Harry Thorburn and Dennis Jollymore. Maxine lived all over Canada but called British Columbia home for many years. Eventually the call of the Atlantic Ocean pulled her back to Nova Scotia in 2011.
Maxine is survived by four children Garry (Kathleen Drysdale) Jollymore, Carol Jollymore, Stephen (Donna Parker) Jollymore, and Pamela (Ted Brooks) Thorburn Brooks. Her grandchildren are Jeffrey Lively, Wessley McBurnie, Jennifer Jollymore, Jocelyn Jollymore, Chantel Brooks, Jinelle Jollymore and Alana Brooks. Maxine has four Great Grandchildren Jada Reid, Kinsey and Ryder Jollymore Hillier, and Infinity Moore Jollymore.
During her life Maxine was able to practice her love of travelling especially when she resided in Germany. At that time she was able to visit many of the surrounding countries in Europe. She enjoyed cruising the oceans and visited the Philippines several times. Her traverses were extra ordinary due to her phobic dread of snakes. Maxine also did a major portion of home upkeep and renovation being quite handy with power tools.
A special thanks go to the staff of Citadel Court at Parkstone Enhanced Care 156 Parkland Drive, Halifax. The people who work on the floor were the pulse and heartbeat of the thoughtful care Maxine received and all deserve the highest praise that can be given.
There will be a memorial planned for Ship Harbour in June 2018.
Thank you to all who have expressed sympathy we appreciated very much.
