Obituary of Mary Langille
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Allena Langille on July 15, 2018, at the age of 89, in the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Tatamagouche, with family by her side. Born in Diamond on August 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Bessie (Holmes) MacKenzie. She received her teaching certificate from Normal College and taught for several years before starting a family. Mom was actively involved in her church, in the 4-H program and in her community. She held various positions and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. She had a passion for gardening, knitting, cooking, baking, and all of the organizations she was involved in benefitted from her talents. Her biscuits were famous and enjoyed at many different functions. However, her greatest passion in life was her family. The love and devotion she extended to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, left no doubt that each one held a special place in her heart. Mom was the foundation of our family. She gave her support and unconditional love to all, we will miss the twinkle in her eye and the smile on her face and we are truly blessed to have had her in our lives. She is survived by her son, Eric (Twiggy) Langille of Bedford; son, Larry (Maria) Langille; daughter, Janice (Charles) Thompson; son, Mark (Nicole) Langille of River John; her grandchildren, Kristin (Jay) Dahl, Robin (Sonny) Dalton, Sandy Langille, Ryan (Amy), Tyson and Carlie Thompson, Connor and Braden Langille; her great-grandchildren, Imogen Dahl, Brennan and Keagan Dalton, Liam and Rory Thompson. Also surviving are her sister, Vera Edwards; brother, Allister MacKenzie; and Helen Henderson who held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her husband, Dwight; infant daughter, Marilyn Ann; and son, Alexander Lincoln. The family would like to thank Dr. Rob Bush and the staff of Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Visitation will be held at St George’s Presbyterian Church, River John on Wednesday July 18th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral service will follow in the church on Thursday July 19th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom’s memory to St George’s Presbyterian Church, River John 4-H or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
